Go Clean & Green at Autawash!
Each Autawash car wash uses
reclaim technology to re-use 30% or more of the wash water.
Each Autawash car wash uses biodegradable cleaners and
chemicals.
Each Autawash car wash
collects nearly all of its wastewater and sends this
wastewater to the sewage treatment plant. This protects the
local streams and rivers from the harmful effects of soaps,
surfactants, greases and other pollutants that driveway car
washing sends to the streams and rivers.
Barry Hillegas, President of
Autawash has been a leader in the development of Best
Management Practices for commercial car washes in Colorado.
These Best Management Practices have been adopted by the City
of Aurora and the Water Departments for Denver, Fort Collins,
Colorado Springs and Arvada.
The AutaLube Fast Lube
(located next to the Aurora Autawash on South Havana) recycles
all of its waste oils and used oil filters. AutaLube also
accepts do-it-yourself waste-oil that is not contaminated.
Autawash of Colorado was
recognized by the City of Aurora as a Water Smart Business
Partner in 2003 for leading water conservation efforts in the
car wash industry.
Both the Centennial Autawash
location and the Riverboat Car Wash were certified by the
Denver Water Department for meeting water conservation
practices in 2003.
Each Autawash car wash has an
ongoing water conservation program to use water wisely. These
conservation efforts led to a 30% savings, which started
during the drought of 2002 and 2003.
